    The Japanese Chapter of the Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO Japan) was established in May 1990 as a U.S.non-profit organization. The purposes of this organizationare to (1) act as a mediator in the provision of mutual aid totransplant candidates and recipients and (2) provide education inboth the public and professional arena to promote organtransplantation in Japan, where this form of treatment has been held back by issues relating to brain death and organ donation.
